Americans are living longer and staying active and independent longer than ever before. Unlike older generations, they are choosing to continue living in their familiar home environment, a concept called “aging in place.” As a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), a certification program developed and administered by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and AARP, Christine is trained in the techniques and strategies for designing and building aesthetically pleasing living spaces that allow people of all ages and abilities to live safely, independently, and comfortably in their home as they age.
As a CAPS designee, Christine has the requisite knowledge and experience to adapt virtually any home to an individual’s unique and changing needs. Modifications range from the simple, such as replacing traditional door knobs with lever handles for people with arthritis, to the more complex, like adding an elevator or stair lift. Regardless of your needs, Christine Fortenberry can build or renovate a living space designed for the way you live.
